Why this camp?
- This camp is a special training + fun in the sun experience. It’s a mix of training Jiu Jitsu, surfing, relaxing by the beach, and inmersing in a tropical paradise with adventures such has horseback riding. All in one trip so you can successfuly escape the cold winter and enjoy paradise.
- The camp is held by Tribu in a beautiful beach area called Encuentro Beach, near Cabarete, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
Who teaches it?
Briant Ogando

Briant Ogando is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor based in the Dominican Republic, known for combining technical, detail-driven training with an immersive Caribbean lifestyle.
- Over 12 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, having trained with respected figures in the sport including John Danaher, Roberto Jimenez, and Ethan Crelinsten
- Founder of La Tribu Jiu Jitsu, where he trains and mentors a close-knit group of athletes while hosting international camps and retreats in the Caribbean
What do you get to do in the camp?
Here’s a peek at the fun and training you’ll do:
- Practice BJJ — two training sessions a day.
- Surfing lessons, riding waves at Encuentro Beach.
- Horseback riding adventure through rainforest and rivers.
- Morning yoga and mobility sessions to stretch and wake up your body.
- Three healthy, and tasty meals every day (lots of coconut water too!).
- Time to relax — by the pool, on the beach, and with fun bonfires at night on the beach.
Where do you stay?
- Camp participants stay at a place called Surf One, a cozy retreat center just a short walk from the beach.
- There are shared rooms and private rooms depending on what you choose.
- Everything you need. Training, meals, adventures, is planned for you, so it’s easy and friendly.
